A Story Unfinished! 8/09/23
Hebrews12:1b-2a
“let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”
“When God writes our names in the ‘Lamb’s Book of Life’, He doesn’t do it with an eraser handy. He does it for eternity.”
- R.C. Sproul
Books are written one sentence at a time. Past chapters are just details of where the ending of the book is going. We read the book from the front to the back, but God writes the book from the end to the beginning. While we are reading the book, it seems like there are impossible moments for the protagonist to overcome, yet time and time again, the protagonist makes it through each one. That’s because we are not the authors of the book. The bible says that God is the author and finisher of our faith. He started the story. He will finish the story. And where the story is now, does not reflect where the story will end.
Your story is this beautiful story of failures and victories. I know sometimes it’s hard in the failures to see the beauty of the story, but in our failures is where we learn and produce the most fruit in our lives. Our experiences, however difficult, are what makes this journey so great. We trust that God never writes a story that is not worth the read. Bible story after Bible story, we see the protagonist in all its vulnerability. Displayed for generations to read. Still, we get encouraged by it because we see the ending.
Don’t let not seeing the ending to your story detour you from where God is wanting to take you. Don’t let others try to pick up the pen and start writing. Continue to let God write. Continue to let God guide you. Don’t settle. Your husband is waiting. Your wife is waiting. Your children are waiting. Your blood line is waiting. Your destiny is waiting. Waiting for you to allow God to keep writing. Waiting for you to get so desperate for God that everything else does not satisfy.
