About Us @ TheKeyAbilene
Vision Statement
Imagine a ragtag collection of surrendered and redeemed people who love God and their neighbor as themselves. They are mesmerized by the idea that this is not about them, but all about Jesus. They are consumed by His story and His heart for their city. They are sowers and history makers! Grace-givers, risk-takers, and dreamers! They link arms with anyone who tells the story of Jesus. They empower the poor, strengthen the weak, embrace the outcast, and seek the lost. They serve together, play and pray together, worship together, live life together. Their vision is to seek the Kingdom and to impact their city as they walk out God’s purpose. They are us!
What We Believe
● In the verbal inspiration of the Bible. (II Timothy 3:16; Psalm 138:2)
● In one God eternally existing in three persons: namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. (John 5:7-8)
● That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. (John 1:14; Matthew 1:20-21)
● That Jesus was crucified, buried, and rose from the dead. (Mark 15:25; Romans 6:4, 9)
● That He ascended to heaven and is seated today at the right hand of the Father as our Intercessor. (Hebrews 7:25)
● That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins. (Romans 3:23; John 3:16)
● That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
(Romans 5:1; Titus 3:5, 7)
● In sanctification subsequent to the new birth through faith in the blood of Christ, through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost. (Romans 5:2; John 17:17)
● Holiness to be God's standard of living for His people. (I Thessalonians 4:7; Hebrews 12:14)
● In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart. (Acts 1:4-8; Matthew 3:11; Luke 24:49, 53; Psalm 103:3)
● In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost. (1Corinthians 14:5)
● In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38; Acts 8:12-13; 1 Peter 3:21)
● Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement. (Isaiah 53:4, 5; James 5:14-16)
● In the Lord's Supper and washing of the saint’s feet. (Luke 22:17-20; I Corinthians 11:23-26)
● In the pre-millennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years. ( Zechariah 14:4; II Thessalonians 1:7-10; Revelation 20:4-6; Zechariah 14:16)
● In the bodily resurrection, eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked. (John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:10-15, 21:8)
● Tithing and free will offerings are for the establishment and furthering of the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Malachi 3:10; Hebrews 7:1-21)
